Craig Johnson works as web development coordinator for Demco Manufacturing in Boyden Iowa. He and his wife Angie live with their 4 children Kayleigh, Isabelle, Solomon and Eli on their farm near George Iowa.
Craig enjoys arranging music, is involved in the Tabernacle Church choir and has a hobby of a large victory garden at the farm.
Craig grew up listening to quartet singing as the son of Marvin Johnson who sang for over 40 years with the Ambassador quartet. He attributes his love for music to his parents who started him down the path of singing at a very early age.
Craig says, “Now singing with One Way is just as natural part of life as it was when Dad was singing with the Ambassadors. I just enjoyed going with them every chance I could. I made a hobby of learning all 4 parts of the quartets’ songs although my voice was usually much too high to sing below a middle C until well into high school.”
The heritage of that ministry [The Ambassadors] is a big part of what drives Craig’s ministry outlook today. “The Ambassadors went out Sunday after Sunday to minister to people and build friendships that have lasted to this day. Many of our early contacts to sing concerts in churches came from the Ambassadors recommending us as an up and coming quartet. We owe them a lot for helping us get our start.”
If you get a chance to visit with Craig about music and quartet singing, you will see the passion of an avid music lover and a man who loves the Lord.
“God has given the gift of music. I just love singing and building praise to Him with great songs and harmonies. It wouldn’t surprise me much if our love for music rubs off on our kids as well. (We kind of hope it will.)”
